Diagnosis

How important is a diagnosis? We can't change the past; however, we can get help for the future. Do we delay the finalization of the adoption for a diagnosis? Will it really matter to our state people? Will it change anything in their book? I know how severe the issues can be with this diagnosis, but the state people don't seem to know. Am I letting fear guide me or God?

  1. We were presented with a list of diagnosis today for Nate and I did request documentation from the Dr. so we can have it in his records at the time of the adoption and so we can use it as leverage to make sure he will get all he may ever need in the future as far as therapy, hospitalization, residential treatment and anything else he needs.

I really don't want to rely solely on Medicaid to meet the financial needs he may have because with all this health care reform Medicaid may reach a crashing doom and then we are left without a way to pay for his many meds and therapies. Not sure how all the subsidy stuff works because I am not quite there yet but I just want to be as prepared as possible and go into all of this with my eyes wide open.

It's not that I don't have faith but I refuse to bury my head in the sand and must admit that the problems Nate has could resurface even after much therapy. To protect him and the rest of our family it is my responsibility to cover our bases.

I am not trying to tell you what to do, just telling you where we are in the process.
