Mothers

I am so blessed to have super parents and in-laws that have always supported us throughout our adoption process.  I am very thankful that they are always there for us when we need them.  My mother and my husband's mother have listened to me countless times when I have needed them whether on the phone or in person.  They love my girls just as much as my birth children.  They are always certain that everyone is treated the same.

Even when they are worried about something going on or decisions we are making regarding our children, they are cautious with their words.  For example, they are all thrilled about Morgan getting her own room.  They have all thought this should happen and have been praying for it for a while.  However, they held their tongue and waited on us for the right timing.

I have read a few blogs today talking about how many relationships are wounded due to adoption.

I want everyone to know I am very thankful for my parents and my husband's parents.  They are very helpful and supportive of our family and my children adore each of them and so do we!!

  2. You are very fortunate to have them. Some of us just have to go it alone.

  3. There was a learning curve for our family, just as there was for us when we adopted our three. Everyone else was an experienced parent and we were getting baptized in the fire of three kids with major issues we had not been told about. Everyone is pretty supportive at this point. I have had to let go of my fear of what other people think about my parenting, which went hand-in-hand with my fear that I wouldn't be a good mother. My defensiveness made it harder for people to support me the way they wanted to be able to.
