Getting ready!

We have the bunk beds ordered for the girls room. I thought they would take a while to arrive, but they should be here this week. Wow! The girls room is going to be painted Thursday and Friday. Hopefully it won't take too long. It is wild adjusting to having five children and seven in our family. I guess when we go to restaurants now we will be a large party. We won't be able to put a chair at the end of the booth anymore. My boys will probably volunteer to sit at another table near us to get away from their sisters. They will now be out numbered. They could over power Morgan before, but no longer!!

We have a house divided for football teams. They were talking this morning about which team they would probably be for and what if it is a different team or not any team. It is fun listening to them talk about everything going on in our lives.

I have to go teach...more later.

  2. I just found your blog from your comments on Pearls of Price. Congrats on your the twins! that is fabulous. We also adopted older kids, they boys where 7(almost) and 8. Adopting older children is a different journey but a beautiful one. I saw that were reading Keck, a great author. May I also suggest you read/borrow/steal the following. If I had them before I started I would of been much better off.

Attaching in Adoption, Practical Tools for Today’s Parents – Deborah D. Gray

Attachment-Focused Parenting, Effective Strategies to Care for Children – Daniel A. Hughes

Facilitating Developmental Attachment, The Road to Emotional Recovery and Change in Foster and Adopted Children – Daniel A. Hughes

Parenting the Hurt Child, Helping Adoptive Families Heal and Grow – Gregory C. Keck

Beyond Consequences, Logic and Control, A love based approach to helping children with severe behaviours – Volumes 1 and 2 – Heather Forbes

There are many more but that is my primer so to speak. My blog is a pretty honest reflection of my parenting journey, plese do let the honesty scare you because in the beauty of the journey is there too but somedays it is hard to see.
