It worked again!

Two girls had a disagreement this morning. Two stories that didn't match. It was over who was going to play with the umbrella outside. It wasn't a big deal, but I knew somebody was not telling the truth. We did the five minute time out, which ended up being ten because I was sorting laundry and made them wait, and the stories matched. I explained to the girl who struggles to be honest when she really wants her way what had happened again. She appears to understand. Do I discipline again or just keep handling it this way? She probably understood what she was doing when she wasn't honest...maybe. Anyway...it worked again. I am so glad to know that Morgan, the girl I have raised nine years, knows the difference between a truth and a lie. There was a time when I questioned whether she did or not. She is really maturing during this life change. Praise God for the baby steps we are making!

  1. Glad that worked. Nothing works with Beth.

I will try to make this story quick. :)
Yesterday Beth comes in and asks if she can play with sidewalk chalk. I said, "No! It's almost supper and you are in good clothes. Do Not do sidewalk chalk." "Yes Ma'am, I won't" she says. This morning we are leaving to take kids to school and I see writing with sidewalk chalk and asked who did it. Beth quickly says "not me" while Nate says, "Beth and Raleigh". Raleigh is also saying "me and Beth". I promise you she denied it and promised me she was telling the truth and even said both boys were lying. I stopped the conversation and when we got home I walked with her to the chalk and asked her who wrote what and she pointed out what Raleigh had done and then pointed out what she had done and admitted she did it. Her defense was, "Well, you NEVER let me do chalk" (Then how come she has 3 outfits that are ruined because she crawled and sat in chalk...HMM.) She kills me. She will be the death of me. I am at a lose and do not know what to do. It drives me crazy that she will not tell the truth and even tries to justify her lies because she knows what she is doing. It is so beyond frustrating.
